Jerry Hunt

Jerry Hunt (November 30, 1943 in Waco, Texas - November 27, 1993 in Canton, Texas) was an American composer who created works using live electronics partly controlled by his ritualistic performance techniques, influenced by his interest in the occult. He committed suicide in response to terminal cancer. He used carbon monoxide.

His collaborators included Karen Finley, Mike Patton, Paul Panhuysen, and Philip Krumm. Hunt was also the founder of IRIDA Records, which released recordings with works by Larry Austin, James Fulkerson, Dary John Mizelle, Rodney Waschka II, and others, as well as recordings of his own music.

For more in-depth information on a very fascinating human being, visit Jerry Hunt’s official webpage.

More Information on “Lattice and CANA”

•        "Lattice (taylor extractive)" utilizes digital storage and performance instruments: a system of storage and editorial recall of audio signals using a Z80 microcomputer-based system and a dynamic control interface performance system using an E-Mu digital performance instrument.

•        "CANA (overlay): Converge" uses a procedure of mimetic transactional gesture implemented with a group ofelectrical light wand artifacts and a selection of mechanicaltransient sounding attachments designed by sculptor David McManaway.

Very special thanks to Rod Stasick, who helped immensely in the gathering of information and permissions for this program.
