Saturday morning--a child's favorite
time. Cartoons, frolic, what have you. Leslie, Fred and Paul are certainly no children, yet come Saturday we are in a favorite time zone. Trigger rehearsal time. A nearly three year old custom takes place in Leslie's apartment: the ideal setting for our special combination of spontaneity and sophistication. Pleasure here is found both in the visceral (QUALITY) and the formal (ORGANIZATION).
The piecesrest on notions of thing-ness, ranging from the sound event to the development of webs of particulars. With a history/background in improvisation, the trio defines its compositions with an eye for specificity without sacrificing the element of surprise. The reliance on--and love for--"lower register" instruments further shape the sound that is trigger.
