DRAM News

We are very pleased to announce that after more than 8 months of planning and production, on February 1st we will launch an updated version of DRAM. The switch will be seamless for current users, and the new system will enable easier implementation and proxy configuration for future participants.

While the majority of improvements are “behind the scenes,” there are a number of front-end features to enjoy immediately:

•    Lucene search engine for more complex searching within a well-known query language.
•    Improved Streaming player with “scrubber bar” for fast-forward and rewind options and ability to select the play starting point.
•    A revised look, with cover art accompanying search results

In addition to the features above, the back-end features of the update lay a firm foundation for streamlining our production processes, leading to the addition of new content and functionality in the forthcoming months. A highlight among these additions is a much more robust program for harvesting usage statistics with an online interface. We will continue e-mailing the improved statistical data through February, but aim to offer each participating institution access to the new web interface soon thereafter.
