New World Records: Live at NYC's The Stone!

Posted on Tuesday, April 19, 2011

This is an incredibly rare treat for a label to be given space and time and resources to present the artists that they believe in.  John Zorn, the head curator and executive director of The Stone, will be featuring different labels over the next year, and he has asked New World Records to put together a two week festival of the diverse music they have been presenting for over 30 years now.

The performances are by a eclectic combination of composers and performers from New World's past and present.  Highlights include Christian Wolff, Tim Berne, a solo saxophone performance by Tony Malaby, Vincent Persichetti Piano Sonatas played by Geoffrey Burleson, Marty Ehrlich's New Rites Quartet, a rare appearance from Argentinean born Chicagoan Guillermo Gregorio, and a flute recital from one of the modern greats, Margaret Lancaster.
